Caspian Basin in Transition Conference 2024

Bridging Geosciences and Environmental Challenges

3 - 6 June 2024

The Scientific Committee is pleased to announce the conference “Caspian Basin in Transition Conference 2024, Bridging Geosciences and Environmental Challenges”, which will held from the 3rd to 6th of June 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Caspian Basin in Transition Conference aims to present and discuss new approaches, methodologies, and data in the earth sciences, in relation to the challenges posed by the ongoing energy transition. With a particular focus on the rich and dynamic Caspian Sea Basin, the conference will explore issues of a world in transition encompassing georesource exploration and sustainability, geohazard assessment and prevention, and environmental challenges, including the resilience of natural and anthropogenic systems to global change.

The conference comprises 4 different themes and will include a full-day excursion to mud volcanoes near Baku. Please visit the Program for more information.

The conference will take place on-site and will feature lectures, oral presentations, and posters, which will stimulate multidisciplinary scientific exchange. However, online presentations may be organized in a hybrid format on request. Particular attention will be given to encourage discussions between PhD students, national and international scientists, and industry R&D departments. Abstracts will be taken into consideration to be developed and lengthened to an article format and submitted for publication in the Springer book series. Please visit the Submissions for more information.

In conjunction with the Caspian Basin Conference, we are delighted to highlight the synergies with the upcoming COP29, scheduled to take place in Baku later that year. The Caspian Basin Conference’s themes of geo resource sustainability, geohazard prevention, and environmental resilience resonate with COP29’s broader agenda on climate action and sustainable development. It provides a unique opportunity for conference participants, researchers, and industry professionals alike, to actively engage, exchange knowledge and ideas, to contribute to the global dialogue on environmental issues, emphasizing the interconnectedness of regional challenges with the broader climate goals set forth by the international community.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you, in Baku.
